Two-factor authentication in WebMoney system: now via Pebble

E-NUM authentication system that grants access to WebMoney services using one-time passwords can now be utilized with the Pebble SmartWatch. After synchronization with a smartphone incoming notifications containing a verification code for an additional confirmation of operations are displayed right on the watch screen which accelerates and facilitates the identification procedure. Apart from the Pebble, E-NUM client can also be used with Android Wear watches.

For more than a decade WebMoney system has been implementing a two-factor authentication model that makes it possible to secure considerably the transactions carried out. A secret access key is stored not on a computer but on a WebMoney System-participant mobile device which poses no risk that the key will be damaged or stolen by a malware. Along with SMS-messages containing a verification code for an additional confirmation of operations, the participants of the system utilize E-NUM client which generates one-time passwords according to the “number-challenge” – “number-response” principle.

Now users can receive incoming notifications with a “number-response” from Android devices straight onto their Smartwatch. If the application hasn’t been installed yet, the user needs to first download it to his smartphone and synchronize with the watch.
E-NUM authorization service can be used in WebMoney both for log-in and for additional authentication when key personal data and security settings are changed, funds transfers need to be confirmed, correspondents are added and other operations are carried out.
The Pebble Watch and Android Wear will soon be joined by new models with a two-factor authentication in WebMoney system using the Smartwatch.
